Podiatry & Chiropody

As a private clinic providing physiotherapy services in Runcorn Cheshire, we also offer podiatry/chiropody and sports gait analysis under one roof. Located in Runcorn Old Town our Chartered and HPC registered podiatrists / chiropodists are ideally placed to provide services to the wider area of Widnes, Warrington and Halton.

Podiatry and chiropody are both terms used to describe the treatment of foot and lower limb disorders. As foot problems affect most of us at some time in our lives, Podiatrists see people of all ages and from all walks of life.

Podiatry (also known as chiropody) is essentially divided into two specialities. The first speciality is well known for treating foot conditions such as corns, hard skin, diabetic foot ulcers, verrucae and in growing toe nails. Visit our podiatrist/chiropodist on-site in Runcorn, or alternatively we offer home visits to the Widnes, Warrington and Halton surrounding areas if you have mobility difficulties.

The other speciality of Podiatry is biomechanics or gait analysis - the study of the body in motion. Each foot is an engineering masterpiece. We tend to take this for granted until something goes wrong, or we develop pain. Biomechanical problems affecting the feet can increase stresses within the foot structures and the surrounding soft tissues, creating localised pain in the foot and ankle, but also problems in the lower limbs, knees, hips and back. Correction of poor foot biomechanics with orthotics (insoles) can improve and prevent many types of symptoms.

At Premierphysio our podiatrists use a fully equipped gait analysis lab. We observe the way your foot, lower limb joints and muscles function. A podiatrist is looking to determine if the way you are walking, running or cycling may be contributing to a current injury, or may cause an injury in the future. From the assessment findings our podiatrists offer a range of 'off the peg' and bespoke personal orthotics (insoles) to suit your symptoms and budget. The orthotics presribed influence the foot to behave correctly and remove the cause of your pain.

At PremierPhysio we favour the use of bespoke casted orthoses. These are tailored orthoses, which means they are prescribed for each specific person depending on a variety of factors such as weight, sporting activity, foot type, medical status, footwear etc. Each device will be specifically ordered following your lower limb and gait assessment. We feel these provide the best outcomes for our clients.
