Our sports rehabilitator, Laura McCollom is specialised in treating injuries in all age groups. Although she is highly experienced in sporting injuries, similar to physiotherapy, sports rehabilitators can help people suffering from any pain, injury or illness involving the musculoskeletal system. Most of us will be affected by pain or joint stiffness at some point in our lives. Conditions such as back pain, neck pain or knee and shoulder injuries can impact your ability to do simple daily things or stop you being able to participate in hobbies you love. These issues often develop over time, without an obvious cause, but can also start after a trauma i.e. a sporting injury or accident. Professional advice and treatment are essential to recover fully and prevent a niggle from getting worse and becoming a problem over time.
Laura will support your rehabilitation by assessing where the pain is coming from, testing which muscles are weak or tight and prescribing a personalised treatment plan to address these issues. Evidence-based research is used to create an individualised exercise plan to target your needs. Pain and stiffness are reduced whilst health and fitness are improved. There is a strong focus on maintenance and injury prevention, using exercise, movement and manual based therapeutic interventions. Hands on treatment techniques can include soft tissue massage, myofascial and trigger point release, kinesiotaping and functional Rehabilitation.

"Was booked in with Laura and oh my goodness, she worked wonders! my back has been so painful since having my daughter but she assessed me and was able to talk me through everything perfectly regarding why I am having pain and her massage technique has already taken SO much pain away, I can actually go about my day without getting upset due to the pain. There was no judgment and no communication issues whatsoever! I am now currently following her personal exercise plan and will hope to see her regularly to track progress!"
